WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY? |

---|---|---|---|
Developed by Osteopathic Physician John Upledger in 1970, CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of enhancing the body's own healing capabilities. This light- touch therapy is used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may cause sensory, motor or mental and emotional dysfunction. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull—which make up the cranium— down to the sacrum or tailbone area. |
CranioSacral Therapy strengthens your body’s ability to take better care of you! You also benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease. |

CranioSacral Therapy and the Rhythm of Life |

"Your treatment has changed my life in so many ways. I had been having migraine headaches for many years. I thought I had to just live with it. My headaches were so bad that I couldn't function half of the month. I had dizziness, neck pain, back pain, and fatigue. Desperately seeking relief from my misery, I was recommended to you. Making that first appointment was the best decision I have made. Thank you so much for the amazing improvement I have received from CST. I was loyal to the treatment, and now I don't need to live with the pain anymore. I'm looking forward to more progress. I wanted to let others know don't give up, there is hope! CST is so gentle, relaxing and healing. |

How is CranioSacral Therapy Performed? CranioSacral Therapy is performed on a fully-clothed body. Using a light touch, usually no more than the weight of a nickel, the practitioner monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord. At The Touch of Health, most CranioSacral Therapy sessions last an hour, or 45 minutes to an hour for infants. Often the initial evaluation goes a long way to helping correct any problems. The result? A central nervous system free of restrictions, and a body in harmony and balance. There’s no way to know how many sessions might be required—we’re all individuals. Sometimes one to three sessions are enough, followed by less frequent treatments; in other cases a longer treatment schedule may be recommended. When working to remove restrictions in the jaw and encourage downward and forward growth, a regular schedule of less frequent sessions may be used to continue enhancing proper natural growth—to help forge a lifetime of good health! |
